Frequently asked questions

What is Tabilinks?

Tabilinks is a browser extension that replaces the new tab page with your own links, organized into groups and subgroups. Recently closed tabs and your browsing history sit in a panel on the right edge of the same page, one mouse movement away.

Is Tabilinks free?

Yes. The free version is complete and enough for most people: 1 profile, 2 workspaces and up to 5 synchronized installations. The premium version, paid yearly or once for life, removes those limits, remembers more closed tabs and visited pages, and hides the advertisement bar.

Do I need an account?

No. You can start using the extension the moment it is installed, and it works offline. An account is only needed to back up and synchronize your links between browsers and devices, or to use the premium version.

Which browsers does it work in?

Tabilinks is distributed through the Chrome Web Store, so it works in Google Chrome and in the browsers built on Chromium that install extensions from that store.

How do I synchronize links between computers?

Register and sign in on the website, then connect each installation of the extension to your account with the pairing code from your device list. Every connected installation then shows the same links.

Can I keep my history private?

Yes. Tracking of closed tabs and visited pages can be turned off completely, or kept on while its synchronization is turned off. Synchronization as a whole can also be disabled per device.

What are profiles and workspaces?

They are the levels above groups. A profile holds workspaces, a workspace holds groups, a group holds subgroups and the subgroups hold links. Use them to keep apart, for example, work and home, or different projects.

Can I open all links of a subgroup at once?

Yes, with one click, and the opened tabs can be gathered into a browser tab group.

How is Tabilinks different from other new tab extensions?

  • A real hierarchy, not tiles. Most new tab extensions are Opera-style speed dial tiles. Tabilinks organizes links into profiles, workspaces, groups and subgroups.

  • Bulk link opening and tab grouping. All links of a subgroup open with one click, and a subgroup can catch its links into a browser tab group of its own.

  • One purpose. Synchronized bookmarks and history, instead of calendars, notes or weather widgets.

  • Very affordable. The free version is complete, and premium costs a fraction of what extensions with a comparable feature set charge.

What happens to my data?

Your synchronized data is stored in the Tabilinks database and is not sold or shared for advertising. The details are in the privacy policy.
